10-12-2020

“Human rights are not a privilege conferred by the government; they are every human being's entitlement by the virtue of his humanity." – Mother Teresa
Human Rights Day is celebrated on December 10 every year across the world. The day marks the date when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948. This year's Human Rights Day theme is "Recover Better - Stand Up for Human Rights," related to the COVID-19 pandemic. Presidium had organized a Poster Making Activity across its senior grades to reaffirm the importance of human rights in re-building the world we want, the need for global solidarity, and our interconnectedness and shared humanity. The students expressed their views on how the COVID-19 crisis was fuelled by intensifying poverty, inequalities, and entrenched discrimination. Through their posters, they highlighted how our continued efforts to close these gaps and measures to champion human rights could ensure we fully recover and build back a world that is better, more resilient, and sustainable.
