ASPIRING CHESS PLAYERS COMPETE AT INTER SCHOOL CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP

‘Chess is everything; art, science and sports.’ An Inter Presidium Chess Championship 2018-19 was recently organised at Presidium, Indirapuram. The tournament is an annual feature and an event that aspiring young chess players look forward to as it gives them a chance to test their skills with some of the most competent players of their age group.
The tournament was governed by the rules of the All India Chess Federation. 274 students, across all the 12 branches of Presidium participated, showed great enthusiasm and thoroughly enjoyed & focused while playing the matches. The matches clearly brought forth the eagerness with which our students are building their skills.

Fostering the love for nature among the students, Presidium recently organised a special assembly - ‘Van Mahostav’ for the young nature lovers of grade 6. The Presidians shared words of wisdom to save
trees, our earth and respect nature. In tune with the assembly theme, they also presented a melodious song, accompanied by their classmates on guitar and cajon. After which, a mesmerizing bharatanatyam performance depicting love for trees and nature left the audience spellbound. The assembly culminated with a pledge to plant more trees for a sustainable future.

SEMINAR ON AWARENESS & PREVENTION OF DRUG ABUSE AWAKENS STUDENTS

SAY NO TO DRUGS!
A seminar was recently organised in Presidium Indirapuram by Indian Red Cross Society, Delhi Branch in association with the National Institute of Social Defence, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Narcotics Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs. The programme addressed a growing need to educate school children about drugs based on the idea that ‘Prevention is Better than Cure’. They have conducted the programme in over 80 schools in Delhi covering 22000 children and 800 teachers. The programme has been widely appreciated. The seminar included the presentation of a short film followed by an interactive questions/answers session. It aimed at creating awareness about substance abuse and drugs. The topic was discussed in depth and all the possible ways were used to empower and educate students about drugs.

ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE 2018:HONOURING THE ACADEMIC RIGOR OF STUDENTS

Presidians always stand out from the rest, be it academics, cultural activities or sports. Over the years
Presidium has produced a number of excellent students in academics who, in the future take the
reputation of the school to new heights. And what better way to appreciate and congratulate them than the Academic Excellence Awards 2018. This ceremony honored their commitment towards excellence and intelligent planning which encouraged them to reach their academic goals. The results for the year 2017-18 have been brilliant with our grade 12 students leading from the front. All our students passed with flying colours and twelve of them have scored more than 90%. 31 students of grade 10 raised the bar really high when they scored an aggregate of 90% and above. Our honourable Chairperson Mrs.Sudha Gupta felicitated the achievers with trophies and certificates and also encouraged them to keep up the good work. The felicitations were followed by a mind boggling fusion performance by the ‘Rhythm of the soul Academy.’ Overall, it was an awe-inspiring and encouraging event which motivated the learners to leave their mark in history, build a legacy that nobody could change, and perform even better the next time.

COLOURING CONTEST:LITTLE PRESIDIANS DISCOVER THEIR ARTISTIC SIDE

An interclass colouring competition was recently organised for the students of grade Prep. This objective of this activity was to explore and enhance the creativity of the Presidians and offer them a platform to showcase their skills in colouring. It also inspired them to think and work creatively to achieve artistic excellence. By colouring enthusiastically, the students developed motor skills along with hand and eye coordination. The artistically coloured sheets were a treat to the eyes and each one of them was appreciated for their amazing art works.

EXTEMPORE COMPETITION: WHEN SPONTANEITY MEETS CONFIDENCE!

An extempore is a brain boggling situation to put your thoughts together and present it in a crisp manner. It is a stage performance that is carried out without preparation or forethought. To develop spontaneity among the students of grade 11, an extempore competition was recently organised. More than 60 Students participated with zeal. The participants were given the topics on current affairs with two minutes to prepare and finally one minute was given to speak on the topic. The judgement was based on the content, confidence, oratory skills and diction. Akshita Goswami bagged the 1st position while the 2nd & 3rd positions were bagged by Sakshi Dwivedi and Avlokita Awasthi respectively. Such competitions increase the vigor our Presidians to always be on top of their game!

It’s not bricks and mortar that make a school. Of the many things that give an educational institution its soul, perhaps the most important, are the teachers. Following this principle, Presidium ensures that its teachers continue to learn to be able to teach better. An enriching and knowledgeable workshop with a series of discussions, interactions and video presentations was conducted for teachers so as to augment their ability in identifying different ways in which they can fortify students’ strength and raise them as future leaders. The workshop started with modules on micro teaching, TLM creation, art and craft session followed by a high energy Zumba session wherein teachers participated with full zeal and enthusiasm. The workshop ended on the note to teach, inspire and rouse students, both inside and outside the classroom.

The purpose of education in Presidium is to equip its students to lead a successful and powerful life. With every passing year, our Presidians are getting there but, the session of 2017-18 has set a benchmark in their journey to success with exemplary CBSE grade 10 board examination results. We are proud of our school topper Lisha Kalra who deserves an ovation for her score of 97.6%. We also congratulate our 31 Presidians who have scored over 90% in the exams and 15 of our content subject toppers. Keep climbing up students, the sky's the limit!
