PRESIDIANS RAISE AWARENESS ABOUT CANCER AND ITS EARLY DETECTION

National Cancer Day is celebrated in India on 7th November every year. It is marked to raise awareness about cancer, its prevention, detection, and treatment. Grade 8 students of Presidium organized an assembly to create awareness about different types of cancers by speaking about their symptoms and causes of different kinds of cancers. They also discussed some tips to prevent it. A positive environment was created by the students through a song and a dance drama. It showcased that instead of panicking in such situations, one should hold on to courage.

Halloween is celebrated each year on 31st October. The students of grade 2 presented a wonderful assembly to celebrate Halloween. Presidians dressed up fabulously in attractive costumes of ghosts and witches. They presented the importance and significance of the festival through beautiful speeches, dance and a short skit. The celebration helped students gain knowledge about the festivals of other cultures.

JOYFUL DIWALI CELEBRATIONS SURROUND THE AURA OF PRESIDIUM

Diwali is a festival of lights and diyas are God’s way of reminding us that light will always drive away darkness. It marks the return of Lord Rama from fourteen years of exile and his victory over the demon Ravana. Students of grade 5 presented a special assembly on Diwali, which started with the morning prayer. Students encouraged everyone to share and care. They spread the message of friendship and equality through a small skit where they enacted ‘no riches and no poors’. The students presented a colourful dance performance on the song ‘aayo re shubh din aayo re’. The students were motivated to burst only green crackers. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.

PRESIDIANS GIVE MESMERIZING PERFORMANCES ON DUSSEHRA

Navratri is one of the major festivals and involves huge celebrations for nine days and nights and observes the tenth day as Dussehra. Presidium celebrated Dussehra with full enthusiasm to instil students with the message of this festival of defeating evil with goodness. A special assembly was organized on this occasion which started with Ganesh Vandana followed by a skit depicting the mythological characters of Lord Ram, Lakshman and Sita Ji and Hanuman which mesmerized the audience. The programme ended with a dazzling dance performance ‘Aao Vijayadashami manaye’. The students were briefed about the importance of festivals in the spiritual development of a human.

'Choose a career you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.’ Presidium has always advocated for 'Be What You Want To Be'. Presidium organized a seminar cum workshop on 'Career Counselling' to provide career guidance and counselling to its in-house students. The decision to choose the right course and embarking upon the right career is a tough decision for all students. The seminar worked wonders in providing handy and practical solutions to their queries and dilemmas related to stream selection, deciding colleges and career goals. It also introduced the concept of 'Psychometric Test' which is one of its kind, and a scientific and reliable method of career selection. The seminar aimed at creating a win-win situation for students in the area of stream selection and career aspirations.

Presidium celebrated Gandhi Jayanti to commemorate the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, a pioneer of truth and non-violence. The assembly highlighted the significance of the day. The students prepared speeches to pay tribute to Gandhiji and reflected on his great works. Students spread the message of endurance, peace, harmony and expressed their gratitude to Gandhiji for giving us the powerful tool of non-violence. The students reminisced Gandhiji’s favourite songs. In the end, pictures of Gandhiji and his idea of the Swadeshi movement which was symbolized by the charkha, were displayed to the students and the assembly was concluded with the National Anthem.

PRESIDIANS TAKE ANOTHER STEP FORWARD IN GOING GREEN

The best place to start going green is to practice the 3R's (Reuse, Recycle and Reduce). To create this awareness among students, a paper bag activity was organized in the school. Students prepared paper bags using newspapers and distributed them in the nearby areas. They encouraged their neighbourhood to use paper bags and to avoid using plastic bags as an initiative to save the environment.

PRESIDIANS SHOWCASE VIBRANT DANCE MOVES AT DANCE COMPETITION

Dance is a means to communicate emotions without words. Dance competition is a highly rewarding and worthwhile activity for students of all ages and is a great way to build up an emotional resilience in a child. It enforces kids to gain emotional strength and to accept criticism and rejection gracefully. ‘Rhythm of the Soul Academy’ organised an Inter Class Dance Competition for our little Presidians to showcase their talent. Dressed beautifully, the students performed excellent performances on ‘Western Style’ theme. Certificates and trophies were awarded to the best performers in the end.
