STUDENTS PLAY A LITTLE CHARADES TO ENHANCE COMMUNICATION SKILLS
22-08-2019
Communication is the foundation of relationships and is essential for learning, play and social interaction. So, Theatre is also the key to communication skills. Like all art forms, it allows students to communicate effectively and helps them understand others in a new light (empathy). To enhance their communication skills students of grade 3 participated in an activity in which ten students stood in a line facing the wall and teacher tapped the back of the last child and whispered a statement and the child standing in front of her did the action to show the said statement. Similarly every child tapped the back of the person who is standing in front of her/him and tried to repeat the exact action. At the end, last child spoke the wrong statement due to many reasons like distractions while listening, actions not appropriate etc.Theatre-based methodologies like these help children get things imprinted in their minds in an experiential pattern that lasts longer and easily supports innovation in the later stages of their lives.
