National Doctors' Day is celebrated on July 1 all across India to honour the legendary physician and the second Chief Minister of West Bengal, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy. This day is celebrated to recognize the contributions of physicians to individual lives and communities. We, at Presidium School, celebrated this day to mark the importance of doctors in our lives. The students were briefed about the role of various kinds of doctors - Physicians, Ortho. ENT; etc. The students were dressed up as various kinds of doctors, and they role-played using their medical instruments/tools used while treating patients. This was an activity that made the students realize the importance of doctors, their hard work, commitment, especially during this challenging time of Covid 19.

International Yoga Day was celebrated by the students and teachers of Presidium, with great enthusiasm. Teachers and students participated in various asanas, followed by chanting of “ Om “. Teachers encouraged Presidians to practice yoga to remain fit and improve concentration. "

“The greatest gift I ever had come from God; I call him Dad''. Presidians celebrated Father's Day virtually with great enthusiasm. Students of grade Nur Prep and 2 showcased their love and respect for their fathers by participating in various activities. They indulged in singing, dancing, reciting poems, making cards and making refreshing drink & scrumptious snacks for their “superhero dad”. Students got emotional as they shared about the unending love and gratitude for their fathers.

To explore the creative potentials of our children and to bring forth their hidden talent, creativity and imagination, Presidium organized an Intra-class Drawing and Coloring competition for Grades II. The fun-filled activity witnessed enthusiastic participation by all our Presidians and the result was amazing artwork which is a showcase of their creative skills, thoughts and feelings on various topics. This event helped enhance self-expression as well as developed fine motor skills which include grip control and eye-hand coordination.

Oceans are the incubator of life, and preserving their natural ecological state has become the call of the hour. To ensure that our students know the importance of what constitutes 70% of the Earth, World Oceans Day was celebrated with full zeal and excitement by our Presidians in their virtual classes. During the celebration, students were made aware of the importance of oceans which are the habitat of millions of species and marine life. A short video on marine life was shown, making them understand more about life in the Ocean. Students were involved in different activities wherein they shared ideas about the issues impacting ocean life as per their understanding. Grade Nursery students were involved in creating a Fish aquarium, and they enjoyed themselves in the said activity by coloring the same. Grade 8 students prepared presentations on the theme- ‘The Ocean- life and its preservation’ in the group, and they showed very active participation in this activity and shared very informative presentations related to Ocean. Grade 9 students unleashed their creativity and designed their own World Oceans Day Poster on the topic - “The interconnectivity between the ocean and its ecosystem.”

'Many Species, One Planet One Future, 'World Environment Day was celebrated by young Presidians by connecting them to nature. The teacher highlighted the crucial role we play in protecting the planet, to which we are closely linked and depend on. The awareness about the conservation of our environment was created among them by various discussions and watching videos. Students were also encouraged to plant small saplings to protect the environment and also were made to understand that it is the only thing that can make life sustainable. To pay gratitude, students pledged to keep an environment clean and put their creative hands-on Poster Making. The basic motive behind the celebration was to sensitize and reflect upon the sensitivities of our beautiful environment.

To enable the students to understand how the digestive system works in the human body, students of Grade 7 performed an activity in which they were asked to draw and represent the Human Digestive System. Through this activity, students understood that our body needs food to provide it with energy and to carry out various life processes. However, in order to use food, we must first break it down into substances that the various organs and cells in our body can use. This is the job of our digestive system. This activity helped the students learn the parts of the digestive system and how they work together.
